Taxi drivers plan to protest outside The Gresham Hotel today where there'll an oral hearing about the redevelopment of College Green is taking place.
The revamp will pedestrianise the area in front of Trinity and ban all traffic.
Dublin Bus is staunchly opposed to the plans, labeling them 'socially regressive.'
However the head of Dublin City Council's Transport Committee, the Green Party councillor Ciaran Cuffe, syas the car lobby has been allowed to the city centre "to be choked with noise, fumes and traffic" for too long.
The submissions will be heard by An Bord Pleanála at the O'Connell Street hotel later.
Separately a ban on taxis travelling southbound during rush hour comes into force today to try and deal with the gridlock.
It's in a bid to ease the gridlock on College Green since the Luas Green Line extension became operational before Christmas.
President of the Irish Taxi Drivers Federation Joe Heron is extremely unhappy with the 7am - 10am restriction.
"We have asked for a meeting with the Minister for Transport about this whole situation and we were hoping (the ban) would be put back for a weeks so that instead of being today, it would be this day next week if it was going to happen. Our problem with it is that they (the National Transport Authority) given us no alternative route."
