Controversial plans to turn College Green into a civic plaza have been delayed yet again.
A decision has been put back until October 5th meaning commuters will do battle with the bottleneck for longer.
However a decision on plans to build 3,500 homes on the Poolbeg peninsula may be postponed for the foreseeable future.
A spokesperson for the planning authority says it is still the intention to publish a decision at the end of September.
But Labour Senator Kevin Humphreys has told 98FM News a backlog is disrupting the work of An Bord Pleanála, and it runs the risk of having to put off a decision indefinitely.
"I was disappointed yesterday when I got a letter from ABP outlining that there's a huge backlog in relation to housing projects across Dublin and that the Poolbeg decision will be delayed indefinitely until there are sufficient inspectors to take it."
