A Clondalkin man who got young girls to send him explicit photos and videos on apps like Snapchat and Instagram has been jailed for seven and half years.
26-year-old Matthew Horan of St. Johns Crescent also admitted having and sharing child abuse images.
The case of Matthew Horan was deeply disturbing. Only a fraction of what he said to his 15 victims and made them share online was fit for broadcast. His sentence hearing heard he used apps like SnapChat and Instagram and threatened to send photos to the friends of one girl if she didn't send more.
Horan also recorded video calls on Skype without his victims' knowledge and distributed them online.
Two of the girls communicated with him using iPads they had bought with their own Communion money.
