There's calls for a dedicated public order unit to tackle drug dealing, anti-social behaviour and theft in the city.

Fianna Fail says crime in Dublin is out of control.

The party also say Dubliners are sick of turning a blind eye to crime on their streets.

Fianna Fail added that the Liffey Boardwalk has become a drug haven and there’s increasing anti-social behaviour on public transport.

They’ve published a bill that will allow the setting up of a dedicated Garda public order unit for the city to help clean up the streets.

Justice Spokesperson Niall Collins says the problem is now too great.

Dublin rep Senator Darragh O’Brien says if this unit was set up – things could change for the better quickly.

The bill could be brought forward in the Dail by the end of this month.
