It's claimed Charlize Theron's appearance at the Oscars on Sunday night was digitally altered by Iranian censors to show less skin.
A group called My Stealthy Freedom has published footage of Charlize and Shirley MacLaine's presentation of the award for Best Foreign Language Film. Incidentally the winning film was the Iranian movie The Salesman.
Charlize was wearing a gold lamé dress with her arms and chest exposed.
It must have been deemed offensive to conservative TV outlets in Iran. But the bad Photoshop job is pretty offensive in itself.
The INLA agency says this is "another typical example of the Islamic Republic’s fear of naked arms of Iranian women. It is shameful indeed, but that is how the Iranian media outlets based within the country have been covering such events for years."
