Celebrations are still continuting this morning, after Ireland became the first country in the world to vote for same-sex marriage.
Support was overwhelming, with every single constituency - bar just one - saying yes.
The official announcement was made yesterday at Dublin Castle.
Gay Rights activist Rory O'Neill, also known as Panti Bliss, says although he's delighted, the process was terrifying:
Senator Katherine Zappone and Ann Louise Gilligan, who got married in Canada in 2004, are overjoyed with the result:
In stark contrast to the marriage equality vote, the country said a resounding 'No' in the Presidential referendum.
All 43 constituencies rejected plans to lower the age of candidates for Presidential elections.
The final result revealed only 26 percent of the population was in favour of the change, with a majority of over 76 percent against.
