There are calls to open a six million euro ghost train station in Lucan.

Kishogue was built 7 years ago but it’s never had passengers going through it.

Kishogue Station near Lucan was built 7 years ago at a cost of 6.35 million Euro.

It was part of a development plan for the area that’s since on hold and is now lying idle.

But a Local councillor is calling for Irish rail to open it as trains going through there will soon be going to Grand Canal Dock under the Phoenix Park.

Fine Gael’s William Lavelle says the area needs the station as it’s being choked with traffic. .

One of the reasons for the station staying closed is that there isn’t funding to build a car park and access road.

Barry Kenny from Irish Rail says these are vital for the safe running of the station.

Barry says money isn’t available this year to do the work but they’re looking to see if they can get it in 2016.
