Irish Rail says it works closely with the Samaritans to try and help those in distress near train tracks.
There is a call for DART stations to be manned with trained personnel who can help people at risk of suicide. It follows the deaths of two people at Northside stations in recent weeks.
Jane Cregan from Irish Rail says it’s a very sensitive and complex issue.
"It is very central to our corporate and social responsibility strategy, because it does have an impact on our staff and our customers, and on the communities that we serve".
"We are very active in this sphere, and we work extremely closely with the Samaritans", she said.
Labour Senator in Dublin North, Aodhan O Riordain, believes an urgent response is needed.
"These DART stations aren't manned, and if they were to be manned perhaps some sort of intervention could take place".
He said "It's not normal for DART stations to have this type of activity" and called for "some sort of response" to help those in need.
