Gardai investigating the discovery of a woman's body in Cabra are now treating the case as a murder.

Amanda Carroll's remains were found yesterday afternoon at an apartment in Homestead Court on Quarry Road.

She was aged in her early thirties, and was a mother to two children.

Gardai were alerted to the discovery of her body by Dublin Fire Birgade.

A post mortem was completed today the results of which gardai are not releasing for operations reasons.

However it's understood the victims in her 30s had injuries to her neck and gardai have upgraded the investigation to that of murder.

A man in his 30s who was arrested yesterday evening remains in custody.

He's being held for up to 24 hours after which he has to be released or charged.
