It's emerged a 7-year-old boy who died in a plane crash in Offaly yesterday was living in Dublin.
His dad - who's originally from Poland - safely jumped out of the plane moments before in a planned skydive.
The pilot also died when the light aircraft came down in a bog just outside Edenderry. Eyewitnesses say the plane nose-dived like a torpedo crashing up to 15 feet into the bog.
The tragedy struck just minutes after 16 people jumped out of the single engine aircraft during a scheduled parachute jump.
It’s understood the pilot was a UK national with extensive flying experience while the 7 year olds father was one of the parachute jumpers – the family are Polish but living in Dublin.
In a statement the Irish Parachute Club has thanked the emergency services and air accident investigators at what it describes as a very difficult time.
It says its thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
