Boy B, one of the two teenagers found guilty of murdering Ana Kriègel four years ago, is due to appeal his conviction today.

Following a lengthy trial before the Central Criminal Court in 2019, both he and his friend, dubbed Boy A by the media, were found guilty of the 14-year-old's murder.

The prosecution’s case against Boy B was that on a sunny day in May 2018, he lured Ana Kriègel from her home in Leixlip, Co Kildare to a derelict farmhouse in Lucan, Co Dublin where Boy A was waiting for her, and that he did so knowing that his friend wanted to kill her.

The boys were just 13 at the time. Their identities can never be revealed because of their age when they murdered Ana.

Today, Boy B’s lawyers will put forward their arguments as to why they believe his murder conviction should be overturned.

They will have to do so without new expert evidence that they unsuccessfully tried to introduce over the summer.

Boy B, who’s now 17, was sentenced to fifteen years detention with a review after eight years. Boy A hasn’t appealed his conviction or sentence.
