Tests on the body of a woman found in South Dublin have shown she was strangled to death.

The remains belong to 24-year-old Jastine Valdez, who was last seen being forced into a car in Enniskerry on Saturday evening.

Gardai are examining a blood stained note which was found in the car of her suspected abductor who was shot dead by gardai.

Gardai have launched a fresh appeal for information on the movements of Mark Hennessy, the suspected abductor of Jastine Valdez.

They want to speak to anyone who may have seen the dad of two and his Nissan Qashqai car over the weekend.

They say the 40 year old may have stopped at restaurants, cafes, shops or petrol stations in South Dublin.

These areas include Dalkey, Killiney, Ballybrack, Sallynoggin, Cherrywood and Rathmichael.

Gardai have asked for privacy for the Valdez family, and have thanked "the public, the media, the Defence Forces and Civil Defence for their assistance in this investigation."
