98FM has learned of the tragic passing of 'Batman' Ben Farrell. The 5 year old was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Wilms Tumour last Christmas.
His family had campaigned to raise funds to send him for special treatment in America, after he'd been through 19 rounds of radiation therapy and chemotherapy in Ireland.
Ben's uncle Trevor Croly is former Manager of Shamrock Rovers and Bray Wanderers in the League of Ireland. He had previously spoken of Ben's love of football, lego and Batman.
Following the mammoth fundraising campaign, Ben was undergoing treatment in Washington from where he was flown home on Monday night. He died this morning surrounded by loved-ones at his home in Finglas, with the help of the LauraLynn Children's Hospice.
