Aldi has made the most gains in a recent survey on consumer spending.

The "Where We Shop 2014" report surveyed 3,000 people and found that 37 per cent were shopping more frequently in Aldi in the last 12 months, followed by Lidl which saw an increase of 29 per cent.

When it comes to supporting Irish products, Supervalu is leading the way with 33 per cent of shoppers saying they felt it was best for promoting Irish brands.
