It has been a very eventful year as always on 98FM’s Dublin Talks - Adrian and Jeremy have now picked some of their favourite bit from 2018, and we want to share them with you….
Here they are:
- The big snow in Tallaght: our Jeremy was live from Tallaght, where residents literally could not get out of their estates because of the blankets of snow – we decided to try and help these residents clear the roads…
- Aidan Story – “Dealing with Death”: Aidan spoke to us about how he tragically lost two sons within a couple of years of each other – his eldest son (15) died from SADS, and his toddler (2) died after drowning in a paddling pool. Aidan touched the hearts of many with his bravery and openness while talking to us about the heart-breaking incidents...
- A Dublin Mothers Bizarre Request for Her Daughter: one of most astonishing things we have heard on the show this year, we spoke to a piercer from Dublin - when Charlie told us what one mother asked him to do to her 11-year-old daughter we were left totally speechless…
- “There Is No Paedophile Living in Our House”: the home of a convicted paedophile (Abdur Rashid) in Dublin 7 was targeted by angry locals who want him out of the area – we broadcast live from the family home and spoke to his family members who told us that he was no longer living there and begged neighbours to leave them alone...
- Coco’s Suicide: one of the most heart-wrenching interviews we have ever done on Dublin Talks. We spoke to Jackie Fox, the mother of Nicole (Coco) Fox who took her own life only days before as a result of cruel bullies who made her life miserable…
- Adrian Attacks the Paedo Hunters: a group which divided a lot of opinion throughout 2018 - some said they are “heroes”, others said they are “vigilantes”. Adrian didn’t hold back when it came to telling them exactly what he thought of what they were doing… This caused a lot of controversy
- Wolf-Whistling to Be Made A Hate Crime: we just couldn’t not share this with you – during a discussion on air about wolf-whistling we spoke to two Dublin women who brought a smile to everyone’s face when they told us what they thought about the issue. This always stood out for us. It still makes us laugh…
- Adrian Declares War on Cats: who could forget the famous catgate incident? Adrian made a throwaway comment during the show about cats - cat lovers took it way out of context, some even called for him to taken off the airwaves immediately… This was one of the angriest reactions we have ever seen on Dublin Talks!!
- Margaret Cash Sleeps in Garda Station with Children: one of the most upsetting homeless stories from 2018 – Margaret Cash, a mum-of-seven, was forced to sleep in a Garda station with her children as a result having nowhere else to stay…
So there they are - our 2018 favourites!!!
