The Lord Mayor of Dublin says he expects around 8 in 10 of the City's businesses to be open next week.

Phase 3 of Coronavirus restrictions takes effect on Monday.

So with that, hairdressers, cafés, hotels, gyms, cinemas and pubs that serve food will be allowed open.

Dublin City Council is asking the public to walk or cycle as opposed to taking public transport.

Capacity on the bus, train and tram is still lower than normal.

Council Ready To Open Up Space - As Long As It's Safe

Lord Mayor Tom Brabazon says work is underway to allow businesses extra space for social distancing purposes:

"Some businesses, subject to licensing requirements with the Council, for example a restaurant, be able to put seating out onto the street-scape. "

"So that's subject to not blocking fire escapes or disability access."

"As long as those very important safety measures are in place."
