55 Year Old Charged In Connection To Drugs Seizure In Dublin Port

A man has been charged in connection with a major drugs seizure in Dublin Port on Saturday.

The 55 year old appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

Alvydus Simkus of Smith Lane, Cathedral Place, County Limerick was brought before a special sitting of the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning.

Cocaine, heroin and ketamine believed to be worth 2 and a half million euro were discovered on Saturday in Dublin Port.

Gardaí and customs officers stopped a truck leaving Dublin for Limerick and found the drugs.

An application for bail was rejected and Mr Simkus was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Friday April 6th.
