Most of those awaiting the age exemption were travellers.
New statistics from The Irish Times show in one case a 17 year-old-girl was given permission to marry a 27 year-old-man and in another case a 16 year-old-girl was allowed to marry a 23-year-old.
Although the minimum age for marriage in Ireland is 18, bridal parties can get exemptions from a Circuit Court judge.
