Twelve people were hospitalised in Dublin last night after a crash between a car and a Luas tram.

Ten men and two women, aged from their late teens to mid thirties, were taken to hospital after the crash at the junction of Suir Road and Davitt Road in Drimnagh.

At least 11 ambulances and two units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene and ferried the injured to St James', Tallaght and Blanchardstown Hospitals.

The road was closed but reopened a short time later.

Gardaí believe there were no serious injuries - but they have asked for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
