Man Due In Court Following Armed Robbery and Attempted Hijacking

A man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery and an attempted hijacking of a car in Dublin at the weekend.

Both incidents happened at the weekend.

The first was on Sunday afternoon when Gardai were alerted to an armed robbery at a business premises on Upper Dorset Street in Dublin 7

It was at around half past two when a man entered the premises, armed with a firearm and threatened staff.

He left the scene on foot with a sum of cash.

About 3 hours later, Gardaí in Blackrock received a report that a man with a firearm attempted to hijack a car from a man and woman.

He left the scene and got into a taxi and headed in the direction of Sallynoggin.

A suspect in his early 40s was later arrested in O'Rourke Park, Sallynoggin.

He's since been charged in relation to both incidents.

Gardai say he's due before Dun Laoghaire District Court later this morning.
