A 53 year-old Fairview man has been charged with the murder of Emma McCrory, at her home in Clontarf, last December.

George Turner - of Fairview Avenue, Fairview, Dublin - was arrested on Friday.

He was charged with the murder of Ms. McCrory, at her home on the Howth Road, on 15th December 2022.

The mother-of-two was fatally injured, after a fire broke out, around 8.45pm.

Emergency services rushed to the house, but the mother of two - in her forties - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was taken to the mortuary in Whitehall, North Dublin, for a post-mortem.

Ms. McCrory's funeral took place a week later.

This morning, the court heard Mr. Turner had a "history of mental health difficulties".

The court was asked to recommend he receive a psychiatric assessment in custody.

The judge remanded him in custody to appear via video-link at Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
