There's unsettled weather on the way this weekend. Met Eireann is forecasting wet and windy weather from Friday across the country.

Today will be dull and cloudy in Dublin with some outbreaks of rain. This evening will be mainly dry with some patchy rain tonight and lows of 3-6 degrees.

Tomorrow will be mainly dry in the capital but there will be some rain on Friday evening. The weather is expected to worsen across the country tomorrow night.

Here's the forecast for Ireland over the coming days:

Friday night:

Wet and blustery with outbreaks of rain. The rain will turn heavy overnight and there's a risk of flooding with strong winds. Minimum temperatures of 4-7 degrees in the north and 8-11 degrees in the south.

Saturday:

More heavy rain and very strong winds are forecast on Saturday due to a "deepening area of low pressure". Met Eireann say they will have more details on this over the coming days.

The bad weather is set to clear on Saturday night with lows of 2-5 degrees.

Sunday:

Sunday will be bright and breezy with sunny spells and scattered heavy showers. There could be some hail and thunder in the west of the country. Highest temperatures of 5-8 degrees.

Sunday night will be mainly dry. However, there will be some rain in the southwest at dawn.

Monday:

Monday is expected to be wet and windy with outbreaks of rain moving in from the Atlantic along with strong to gale force winds. Highest temperatures 10-13 degrees. There will be more rain on Monday night with lowest temperatures of 6-9 degrees.

Mid-week:

The unsettled weather is expected to continue into the middle of next week with more showers and longer spells of rain.
