Dublin is a magical place at this time of year.

You can't quite beat the atmosphere around the city, from the decorations and lights, to the hustle and bustle on the streets.

If you want to soak up the festive vibes, check out some of our favourite Christmassy experiences in Dublin.

Ice Skating

Grab some mates, wrap up warm and head along for a night of guaranteed laughs and fun.

There's a number of rinks open around Dublin in Blanchardstown, Dundrum, Tallaght and Swords.

Most of the rinks also offer great rates for groups, and some even have deals with local restaurants for dinner and skating.

Skate off the mince pies while enjoying the cheesy Christmas music, and just try not to laugh too hard when your friends fall!

Christmas Markets

There are lots of Christmas markets dotted around Dublin this year.

The perfect place to take a stroll, enjoy a hot chocolate and browse for gifts.

Of course, the best bit is all the mouth-watering treats you'll find.

Dun Laoghaire Christmas Festival is back this year with a retro fun fair and 55ft carousel in tow.

Dublin Castle's courtyard is also being turned into a festive haven with over 30 traditional alpine market stalls.

The Panto

It's behind you!

Pantos have become a tradition for most families, and with so many on in Dublin we're spoiled for choice!

You can catch Robin Hood and the Duke of Snottingham at The Liberty Panto, or The Three Musketeers in The Helix Panto.

Of course, the biggest and most iconic is The Gaiety, who this year are performing Aladdin with an actual flying carpet.

Whichever once you choose, you're guaranteed an amazing night of entertainment. (Oh yes you are!)

Butler's Christmas Factory Tour

A chocolate factory and Christmas? We're sold.

Butler's are offering a tour of their factory, Christmas style.

You'll see the magic that goes into making their famous chocolates, along with getting to sample some.

Then you can decorate your very own chocolate Santa to take home as a gift.

Santa Claus will also be in Butlers Chocolate Factory every weekend until the 23rd of December.

Classic Christmas Movie Screenings

You can't beat the classics and this Christmas you can sit back and enjoy some of your favourites on the big screen.

Stella Cinemas and The Lighthouse Cinema are both holding special screenings of a number of festive movies.

Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Love Actually, Miracle On 34th Street and Elf are just some of the titles on show.

There's even a Home Alone Christmas Party and special Christmas Eve showing of Die Hard happening in The Lighthouse.

Christmas Eve On Grafton Street

If you find yourself on Grafton Street on Christmas Eve you just never know who you might bump into.

It's become a tradition for a number of Irish artists to gather on December 24th, play some tunes and really get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

U2 and Glen Hansard are known to appear most years, along with Damien Rice, The Coronas, Imelda May.

The famous musicians donate all money raised from their busking to charity too.
