Olympian Jack Woolley says he's 'home' and 'well' after undergoing surgery to repair injuries he suffered in an attack in Dublin.

He was brought to hospital after being punched in the face while walking along the Liffey boardwalk on Friday night.

The 22-year old posted pictures to Instagram demonstrating how bad his injuries were to his face.

The taekwondo star went for surgery on Saturday to repair facial injuries, and returned home yesterday.

"I'm home, I'm well," he said in a post to Instagram stories.

"If anything, I think it actually made my face more symmetrical," he joked.

"I got thousands and thousands of message requests, which I don't know if I will be able to get to all of them.

"But, it doesn't all go unnoticed and I just want to say thank you to everyone."

Gardai say they are continuing to investigate the attack, while no arrests have been made.
