The HSE is expecting to open registration for a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine for 18 to 24 year olds by the end of this month.

People that age can opt in to get the AstraZeneca jab at a vaccination centre from tomorrow.

There's also been strong uptake of the single-shot Johnson and Johnson jab among young people at pharmacies.

HSE chief executive Paul Reid says the portal for an mRNA vaccine will open to 18 to 24 year olds shortly:

"So for younger people, a really strong call to arms to really mind themselves, protect themselves the coming days and weeks because they are the new vulnerable groups because they haven't been fully vaccinated."

"Thankfully 25 to 29s now are fully open and it is our intention by the end of this month that we would further open the portal for mRNA vaccines for the age groups 18 to 24."
