Fuel prices have dropped to their lowest levels since September 2021 - but they are expected to climb again soon.

New analysis from the AA shows diesel now costs an average of €1.51 a litre, while petrol across the country averages at €1.59.

They're the lowest prices registered since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

However, the AA warns prices will rise again shortly as cuts to excise duty implemented last year will be restored on a phased basis from June.

Oil producers also recently announced cuts to production, which caused prices to rise again.
