Kids won't pay a cent to travel by bus, rail or Luas for most of July.

A month of free travel on public transport for those aged 19 or under starts tomorrow.

The National Transport Authority is running its Kids Go Free scheme again this summer -- and this time, it's been extended from two weeks to four.

Intercity bus and rail services are still full fare -- but bus, suburban rail and trams are free for under-18s until the 28th of July, along with Local Link buses throughout the country.

All you need to get on board is a child leap card with one cent in credit or more.

The NTA's John O'Flynn says teenagers don't need to wait for their parents to drive them somewhere if they want to get out and about this summer.

"The younger kids of course have to travel with their parents, but in general once they get to teenagers they want to be free -- and the buses, trains, trams around Ireland give them an awful lot of freedom," he said.

"We get an awful lot of positive feedback from kids using our services."
