It seems people would like to see a working week, where Fridays are free.

According to a survey carried out by Hays Ireland - 95 per cent of Irish professionals want the four-day working week to be introduced in their workplace.

Soothing Solutions in Dundalk County Louth has been operating this system for several years and its CEO Sinead Crowther says it has been massive for workplace wellness.

"That extra day is like rejuvenating," she said. "It really makes a massive difference both psychologically and physically. Where you have an extra day to sort yourself out at home and those domestic obligations."

The company's among just 3.5 per cent of businesses in Ireland which have implemented or trialed this model.

81 percent of the one thousand employers and employees surveyed believe the four-day working week will become a reality within ten years - indicating change is likely on the horizon.
