Eight year old, Irish-Israeli girl, Emily Hand is believed to be alive in Gaza.

She was thought to have been killed by Hamas last month

Emily had been at a friends house for a sleepover in Kibbutz when Hamas struck on October 7th.

Her father who is originally from Dublin had been told she was dead but now it's believed she was abducted and is being held hostage.

Her family is now appealing for her safe return.

Meanwhile back home a number of Dublin city councillors want to fly the Palestinian flag above City Hall.

An emergency motion will be heard before the Council's monthly meeting tonight.

The Independent Group, which is bringing the motion, says it wants to show support for the people in Palestine.

Group leader Cllr Cieran Perry said:

“Over 9,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in 3 weeks, including over 3,600 children. Every effort must be made to stop the slaughter and tackle the humanitarian crisis caused by the relentless assault on the population of Gaza. The flying of the Palestinian flag will show our disgust at the continuation of the Israeli genocide against the Palestinians, and hopefully encourage an immediate ceasefire”
