Eight Branches Of Bank Of Ireland In Dublin Shut Down Today

A third of Bank of Ireland branches will shut their doors for the final time as part of significant changes to the bank.

The closures were announced back in March but comes into effect at the end of business today.

88 branches nationwide are closing as part of a move towards online banking, while other transactions will be offered via an Post.

The Dublin branches closing are Ballyfermot, Rathmines, Merrion Road, Ballycoolin, Phibsboro, Killester, the Law Library and James Street.

Bank of Ireland says the branches which are closing have seen a 60 per cent reduction in footfall since 2017.

The Finance Minister says while the closures are a commercial decision – he knows it’s a difficult day for many customers and staff.
