Dublin Traffic So Bad People Spend 10 Days A Year In Their Car

Dublin traffic is so bad that the capital is one of the worst cities in the world to be a driver.

A new report from motor data company Inrix shows commuters spent almost 250 hours stuck in cars in the city last year.

That's the equivalent of more than 10 full days.

Professor Brian Caulfield from the Trinity College School of Engineering says 'If you look at the average bus speeds in the city, it's 15 km per hour which is a good bit faster than sitting in your car. So it's gives that comparison to people making their choices on how they commute.'

But he says people need more options: 'If there were more options available people may have more viable alternatives to get out of their car and onto public transport. When it comes to more investment in lanes in the city centre, that's not there. One of the things I always say is that we have a space problem when it comes to public transport.'
