A Dublin man has been ordered to take down a number of websites with the words ‘My Options’ in them.

The HSE has brought High Court proceedings over the sites which have a similar name to the official one, which offers women advice on abortions.

In December, the Government announced it was launching a website with the HSE called myoptions.ie for any women who are looking for information about abortion services.

A few days later another site called myoptions.website appeared online.

The High Court heard this morning the HSE has grave public concerns about this other website, that it’s confusing for women and they want it urgently taken down.

Eamon Murphy from Finglas Road in Dublin 11, who operates the website, told the Judge he had operated the site for 20 years under different names.

He said the HSE website was fake and dangerous to women and could lead to loss of life.

The Judge said one would have to question the motives of Mr Murphy in changing his website to such a similar name to the HSE’s one.

She ordered him to take it down and any other ones with similar names pending a full hearing in two weeks.

She warned him he could be incarcerated if he didn’t comply.
