DSPCA
The DSPCA are appealing for information after a number of dogs were seized at a Scottish port.
The Scottish SPCA found the dogs in a car that was disembarking a ferry. The animals originated from The Republic Of Ireland.
They seized a number of puppies and adult dogs but none were microchipped and didn't have any papers proving ownership or vaccinations.
11 puppies and 2 adult dogs were returned on the ferry to Belfast to enter the care of the Ulster SPCA.
Sadly, 4 of the puppies were extremely sick and passed away over night from the Parvo Virus.
The remaining dogs include a 12 week old Labrador pup and six springer spanial pups.
They are now being cared for by the DSPCA, who are working with the Scottish SPCA to investigate.
The organisations have been working together in a multi-agency collaboration across the UK and Ireland called Operation Delphin.
Although the DSPCA are currently not looking for homes for the dogs they are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
Information that may help in this and other cases of illegal exportation of dogs can be emailed to inspectors@dspca.ie.
This comes after a huge spike dog thefts over the last few months.
DogsTrust have been appealing to dog owners to microchip their pets.
