Three Further Coronavirus-Related Deaths And 13 New Cases Announced

Three more further coronavirus-related deaths and 13 new confirmed cases have been announced.

It takes the death toll in Ireland to 1,705 and the total number of confirmed cases to 25,250.

The totals take account of the denotification one previously diagnosed death and one previously confirmed case.

Meanwhile, there are 83 COVID-19 patients in Irish hospitals – with 28 currently in intensive care.

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said: “The COVID-19 virus will continue to impact on the way we move about our daily lives for the foreseeable future, however we have already witnessed how our collective action can control the spread of the virus.

“By continuing to work together, implementing our new behaviours, we can continue to limit the spread of the disease.”

As of midnight on Wednesday, just over 32% (8,116) of the country’s confirmed cases were associated with health workers and 57% were women.

Some 3,275 patients had been hospitalised with their symptoms while 415 had been taken to intensive care.
