There have been 582 new cases of coronavirus in Ireland.

No further deaths have been reported today.

Of today's new cases, 156 were in Dublin, 23 in Meath, 19 in Donegal, 15 in Louth, 14 in Kildare and the remaining cases spread across 20 other counties.

Figures released by the HSE earlier today show there were 345 patients with COVID-19 being treated in Irish hospitals.

83 of those patients were in intensive care.

Latest vaccination data, meanwhile, reveals 455,182 people had received a first vaccine dose as of Monday.

The EMA today concluded that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective.

Officials here will now decide in the coming days whether to resume using the vaccine.

A number of countries, including Ireland, had suspended the vaccine's use over concerns over blood clotting issues.

The EMA has concluded the jab is not associated with an increase in the overall risk of blood clotting, although they cannot yet rule out definitively a link between the vaccine and the very rare clotting cases.
