Adele has celebrated her birthday in quarantine, thanking those helping to fight Covid-19.

The superstar singer has, like millions of people worldwide, been forced to celebrate at home while social distancing.

Adele, who turned 32 on Tuesday, thanked essential workers in a rare update on social media.

In the image shared on her official Instagram account, Adele thanked everyone "keeping us safe while risking their lives".

"You are truly our angels", she said.

She finished her post by adding "2020 okay bye thanks x".

Adele had been expected to release new music later this year, but it's not known if Coronavirus has affected her plan.

She told those gathered at a friend's wedding in February of this year to "expect my album in September".
