Astrophysicist Sigma becomes the 31st Overwatch Hero

The 31st Hero to join Overwatch is Sigma, a scientist with the ability to control gravity.

Siebren de Kuiper is the first Dutch hero in the game and as his backstory goes, an experiment he was performing on board the International Space Station went wrong and after he was directly exposed to a black hole, he was left psychologically broken.

He was quarantined when he returned to earth and dubbed ‘Subject Sigma’. The group Talon (basically the evil version of Overwatch) broke him free of the facility and now Sigma is essentially being used by them to commit evil, seemingly against his will… which is actually quite sad and dark whenyou think about it.

Sigma is a main tank and has the ability to absorb damage to give himself shields, throw a giant rock which knocks down enemies, and he can place his huge barrier shield almost anywhere – think of a Reinhardt shield that can float.

His primary fire can bounce around corners and his ultimate ability lifts enemies into the air and slams them back down, doing serious damage.
While the enemies are in the air, your teammates can of course fire at them, which should open up a lot of interesting team compositions such as a McCree using DeadEye just as Sigma uses Gravatic Flux.

Sigma is available to play on the PTR (Public Test Realm) on PC now and should release more widely within the next couple of weeks.
