Brazilian Carnival Comes To Dublin

Award-winning, immersive entertainment company Elrow are making their Dublin debut this weekend bringing their vibrant Brazilian jungle carnival theme to the city.

Samodrowmo do Brasil will transform District 8 and Tivoli Theatre with intricate, flamboyant production, stilt-walking samba dancers, lively street theatre and some of the biggest names in dance music for a party to remember.

Renowned party starter Melé, resident George Privatti and Spanish party starter WADEwill take the reins on both days, with Kaily, local selector Andrew Azara and Hidden Agenda offering support on Friday, November 16.

Providing the soundtrack on Saturday November 17 will be Dublin duo Boots & Kats, most well known for their ‘Feels So Good’ stomper, the Nic Fanciulli-endorsed Rebuke,Emma Jai and Bedlam DJs. Taking place from on November 16-17 at District 8 and Tivoli Theatre, see www.elrow.com.

Orchestra Take On Iconic Hip-Hop Album

One of the UK’s leading orchestras will take to the stage at Opium this Saturday, performing one of hip-hop’s most iconic albums.

No Strings Attached will perform a live Orchestral Rendition of Dr Dre: 2001 to Irish audiences, merging orchestra with modern hip-hop.

Accompanied by DJ's, singers, and lyricists - this is not your average Orchestral event. 

Dr Dre: 2001 features so many intricate musical layers, they will perform a complete rendition of the album and some of Dre’s west coast classics from start to finish.

Dun Laoghaire Vinyl Festival

The much-anticipated Vinyl Festival in hitting Dun Laoghaire will run until Sunday.

Taking place over three days, the festival will involve a collection of talks and discussions relating to all aspects of vinyl recordings from writing, recording, producing and performing, down to examining sleeve design and liner notes.

The line-up of special guests include Oscar nominated filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson, singer and actress Bronagh Gallagher, Gavin Friday, Joe Jackson, the Horslips and many more.

Events will take place in a selection of venues around Dun Laoghaire including The Lexicon Library Studio, The National Maritime Museum and Eblana College.

Dublin Book Festival

One of Ireland's most successful and vibrant book festivals, The Dublin Book Festival, takes place this weekend.

Running since June 2006, the annual public festival showcases, supports and develops Irish publishing by programming, publicising and selling Irish published books, their authors, editors and contributors – all in an entertaining, festive, friendly and accessible environment that reflects the creativity and personality of the Irish publishing sector and its authors.

Most DBF 2018 events will take place in Smock Alley Theatre in the heart of Temple Bar, with other events taking place in the RDS Library, National Library, National Botanic Gardens and more.

The festival is a partnership between the Dublin Book Festival and Dublin City Public Libraries and its Dublin UNESCO City of Literature office.

Chris Cornell Tribute Night

Fans of Chris Cornell are invited to come along and celebrate the life of the late musical legend in Workman’s on Friday night.

The club will host a dedicated DJ set playing all eras of Chris's music including; Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog.

Everyone attending will be entered into a draw by Universal Music to win Soundgarden, Audioslave and Chris Cornell goodies on the night.

Entry is €5 on the door, with all proceeds going to AWARE.
