98FM's Brian Maher has completed his 24 hour charity runathon in aid of Special Olympics Ireland.

The presenter of 98FM's The Big Ride Home has raised over €25,000 to kick off the charity's fundraising drive.

Brian has been running 160kms, or nearly 4 marathons, since 9am Thursday morning in the Phoenix Park.

His mission was to raise €24,000 euro as a result of the challenge, which was made tougher due to wet weather conditions.

Here is the moment Brian completed his challenge at 9am this morning:

"We did it," Brian told 98FM's Big Breakfast, "I didn't know whether to just cry or smile when I arrived in."

"To not only get the €24,000 but to pass it is just incredible."

Brian's cause was helped by Greenwatt Energy and Construction, who donated €4,000 to bring him over his initial target.

"I genuinely can't get my head around it," added Brian on the generous donation.

Donations are still being accepted - and anyone who wishes to donate can do so here.
