15-Year-Old Stable Following Portmarnock Stabbing

Gardaí are appealing for information after a teenager was stabbed on Portmarnock Beach last night.

At around 9.30pm, the 15-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight between two groups.

A member of the public came to his aid and brought him to Malahide Garda station for assistance.

Members of the Garda Armed Response Unit, who are highly trained in first aid, treated the boy until the ambulance arrived to take him to Temple Street Hospital.

The teenager's condition has been described as stable.

Gardaí are currently examining the scene of the stabbing.

No arrests have yet been made.

Appeal

Speaking at Malahide Garda Station, Superintendent Gerry Donnelly appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Particularly, anyone who was in the vicinity of the entrance to Portmarnock Beach, Velvet Strand, Coast Road and Wendell Avenue between 9 pm and 10 pm last night.

Superintendent Donelly added: "Gardaí are also appealing to any persons who may have been using public transport in that vicinity and came across large groups of youths availing of transport services."
