Hi,

I was in London yesterday to interview the stars of Mamma Mia. (Apologies for the quality of the photos i had to take them on my phone)  I had such a laugh with Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard who play Bill and Harry in the movie. It was such an honour to meet and interview them. Of course I nearly died when I met Pierce Brosnan who plays (Sam) Meryl Streeps other former lover in the movie. He was just so debonair and suave in real life, it's hard not to get overawed by it all. I really never get that star struck! Who knew.  I have to say they were all pure gentlemen.

Mamma Mia premiered last night in London and Leicester Square was beautifully decked out like the Greek set of the film. Click on the interviews below if you missed them this morning with the morning crew!

Hey guys,

Oh My God! It really is the city that never sleeps, New York is now officially my favourite place on earth! I've barely had any time to sleep since i've gotten here. Of course I am here because of 98fms Text and the City. Mark Darcy won the overall competition to come over to New York with myself and his three best mates (Dave, Caoimhe and Anne Marie) for the full on Sex and the City treatment and what a few days it's been!

Last night was the icing on the cake for all of us as our entire trip culminated in  attending a special VIP screening of Sex and the City. We were the first to see it in New York, despite the fact that the movie was out in Dublin on Wednesday. It is by far the best movie i've seen all year. I don't want to spoil it for you but wow it is unbelievably good. It's as Mark Darcy said himself, an emotional roller coaster! The lads really enjoyed the movie which i was quite surprised at! In fact i think i saw a tear rolling down Mark's face at one stage!! Bless. No but honestly the movie is everything you can expect and more. The question on all our lips was does Carrie marry Mr Big!!!!! I'll say no more. Go see the movie. At the screening we had a special visitor. Do you remember Friar Fock the priest Samantha tried to score!!! Well he greeted us a the movie theatre. That was pretty cool. Hot stuff, Phoaw!

Prior to the screening of the movie, we went on the official Sex and the City tour. Oh my god if you are a fan of the show you have to come to New York and see for yourself how great the tour is. It is the coolest thing ever. We had a beautiful and really sound guide, Natasha Malinski, (also an actress) but a part time sexpert on the tour. The entire four hours with Natasha were fantastic. We took in 40 real locations from the show, including the Pleasure Chest where Charlotte bought her infamous Rabit (I purchased a little something for Dermot and Dave from!!! ha ha) We also stopped at Aidan and Steve's bar, Scout, and it would have been rude not to have a cosmo or two!

But for me the highlight was scoffing my face with cup cakes at Magnolia Bakery (The famous spot where Miranda did the very same thing!) There is only one thing negative off the back of the SATC movie. Natasha was telling us that the owner of the apartment used in the show as Carrie's apartment has had to put chains outside her house, as lunatics were vandalising the front of her house, writing all sorts of mad things about Carrie! And some of the residents in the very exclusive  West Village (where most of the filming for the movie and the series takes place) aren't overally enthused by the flocks of tourists taking snaps of their precious gaffs! I got a great laugh as we walked past one lady sitting on her front step and she roared out, "Jerks" as our tour paraded through her hood!!! Madness but you've got to love the diversity of NYC, what a city. I love the food, the cosmoplitan feel of the whole place and most of all I love Sex and the City.

I'll talk to you bright and early on Tuesday morning, have a fab bank holiday weekend, I really don't want to leave the coolest place ever!!!

Ferry

Me on the Ferry reliving the moment when Carrie gets stranded!

sky

The Beautiful Manhattan skyline.

Hey guys,

Finally we got here. We're in the Big Apple for 98fm's Text and the City and it's magic. We arrived yesterday to glorious sunshine 20 degrees and all i could think about was what would Carrie be writing about today! We were living it up like the girls from Sex and the City from the onset. As soon as we landed in Newark we were greeted by our fantastic limo driver Michael. As we drove by the Manhattan skyline there were shrieks of "wow" from our winner Mark Darcy and his good friends, Anne Marie, Caoimhe and Dave. We arrived at the Beacon hotel and the girls and Mark were delighted with their fabulous VIP suites. The girls were  particularly excited about the compimenary bottle of vino and the  box of chocolates!

We're all ecstatic about seeing the movie and doing the tour which all kicks off tommorrow. I'll be keeping you posted right throughout so keep logging onto 98fm.ie. It also transpired that the lads are closet Sex and the City fans! They both admitted to me that they are partial to the odd bit of fake tan!!! Ooch sorry lads don't mean to embarrass you but it's got to be done!

We decided to take a trip on the ferry to Staten Island to relive the moment where Carrie gets stranded after she misses the last ferry.  The skyline looked absolutely stunning from the ferry.

Later that night we decided to visit  sushi samba, as you know Carrie and co really love their sushi! We sipped cosmos and for a moment i thought i better get back to update my blog ala Carrie Bradshaw! In a city that never sleeps it's easy to understand why Carrie has so much content to ponder on about matters of the heart. I'll be keeping you posted. We're off shopping now for our Jimmy Choos.

Wish you were here,

Greetings from New York,

Heya,

What a day it was at the Carlton Airport Hotel. It was the final of 98fm's Text and the City and the place was heaving! 20 finalists and each with three of their best friends were all in attendance and we had some party. Marty Miller from Drive was with us conducting the preliminary rounds and he was very well received by all the ladies in the room. Looking dapper in his suit he truly scrubbed up as 98fm's very own MR BIG.  After whittling it down to the final four we asked the finalists the population of New York from the 2007 consensus, and Mark Darcy and his team reigned supreme, not surprising as he's a maths teacher!!! Swatting up on all things New York seemed to win the day.

But what was really brilliant was the amount of effort everyone went to for the day itself. Ronan Rogers and his crew dressed up as the 4 ladies, and managed to pull it off without looking like Dana Internationals! Ruthie Remond was another finalist who had very little sleep, because herself and her mate had watched 94 episodes of Sex and the City and had the grand total of 2 hours sleep! Hardcore! And a fab girl called Michelle had gone to the trouble of creating her own tutu mad of tull in bright pink, the exact replica of SJP's tutu in the opening credits of the series. I'll be keeping you posted with updates from New York so do keep listening to the Morning Crew daily from 6.

Missing you already,

Hey guys,

handstand

I attempt a handstand with our fab yoga teacher Orla Punch (When i was a child playing on the Green with the  other kids, they used to slag me because i couldn't do handstands or cartwheels so i had a bit of a mental block hence the struggle!)

Ciara

Ciara nails the back bend with Orla's help after which she could do it on her own!

Orla and Siobhan

I get the hang of the back bend with a little help from Orla (It's a serious head rush)

What a weekend! Usually i'm partying like a good thing but i've changed. I tell you, i've changed. I decided to go on a Body, Mind and Soul weekend. It involved mindful meditatation, yoga and pilates in Curracloe, Co Wexford. Orla Punch was teaching yoga and pilates and Tony Bates, head psychologist was teaching mindful meditation. I can quite happily say it was one of the best weekends of my life!

Myself and my best friend Ciara, (featured above in a very flattering pose) felt like changed women after the weekend. You do a number of yoga and pilates classes followed by meditation. I learnt that yoga means union, essentially both yoga and meditation together aim to get you into a state of awareness. To get back the ability to live in the moment was my understanding of it! I really thought it was going to be difficult to do one of the exercises which was a silent forest walk with Tony, but i surprised myself, in fact so much so that after we walked in silence for almost an hour i felt i could keep going, indefinately. But I guess that would be me out of a job!!! If you're interested in something like this check out Orla's website, www.orlapunchyoga.com, she's the best ever.
