A House In Cabinteely Was Home To 70 People
The Lord Mayor of Dublin is looking for answers.
Michael Mac Donnacha wants a report on his desk by Monday on how complaints about sub-standard rental properties could have gone ignored.
His calls follow outrage at reports of fire-risks and overcrowding at premises across the city.
Amy Molloy, a journalist who has been following the issue in recent months has uncovered some shocking housing conditions across the city.
According to her findings, a house in Temple Bar was being rented to 45 people with up to 10 people sleeping in one room.
Molloy, who writes for Independent.ie also found that 70 people were living in a single residence in Cabinteely, with up to 36 people sleeping in the basement alone.
The Lord Mayor says it’s "not good enough" and "not acceptable", and has called for inspections to be carried out to make sure conditions improve.
