Katie Taylor's profile in the USA could be given a massive boost with the news that she might be added to the undercard of the Conor McGregor v Floyd Mayweather bout.
The Irish Independent reports that the Bray boxer could make her second US appearance on the high profile card on August 26 in Las Vegas.
“I actually can’t wait for the fight,” Taylor said earlier this week.
“The whole of Ireland absolutely loves [McGregor] and we’re all very, very excited for him. He’s an icon over in Ireland, the biggest sports star we have at the moment.”
But the finely tuned Bray boxer admits that the Dubliner will be up against it when he takes on arguably the greatest tactical boxer the sport has ever seen.
"It is a very, very tough one. Floyd Mayweather is the best boxer of our generation. He's been in with the top boxers and defeated them all so it is a very tough task for Conor.
"But fair play to both men, they're both making a lot of money from it. It's a win-win situation for Conor McGregor."
First Taylor wants to take a big bite out of the Big Apple as she makes her American debut in the early hours of Sunday morning on the undercard of Mikey Garcia's fight against Adrien Broner.
She is expected into the ring to face Jasmine Clarkson from Texas at the Brooklyn Marriott in New York at around 1am on Sunday morning.
Taylor told Sky Sports of her excitement heading into the fight.
"It's huge really. The platform that I have here, on such a big card, is absolutely incredible. I've been excited all week. I love fight week. The excitement really, really builds. I can't wait to get in there and hopefully make a big statement."
Clarkson has fought 12 times in the pro ranks, winning just four times. Two of those wins came against the same opponent.
However she has never been stopped in any of her eight defeats.
That impressive enough statistic may be changed in New York later as she faces eight tough rounds against one of the best boxers that Ireland has ever produced.
