UEFA says its vice-president Angel Maria Villar, who's being held in jail on suspicion of corruption, has resigned.
Earlier this month, Villar was arrested along with his son and three other federation executives as part of an anti-corruption investigation.
Police have accused them of improper management, misappropriation of funds, corruption and falsifying documents.
In a statement sent to Reuters, Uefa said “Angel Maria Villar (has) tendered his resignation as Vice President of UEFA and member of the UEFA Executive Committee with immediate effect."
"Following his resignation, Villar will no longer have any official functions at our organisation."
