Croke Park is the only place to be today as Dublin go in search of their 7th consecutive Leinster title when they take on Kildare in the provincial decider.
Kildare come into this final, their first since 2009, after back to back league promotions from division three to the top tier for 2018. Gavin has been impressed with this current crop of Kildare players.
"Yeah, very impressed. They've had a very good national league campaign under their belt. Of the eight games they've played, probably an average scoring rate of 19 points."
"Promotion to division one albeit they were beaten by Galway in the division two final in Croke Park but that didn't take away from their very impressive league campaign."
Gavin is happy with how training has been going and says that there is serious competition in the squad for returning players such as Philly McMahon, Michael Darragh Mccauley and John Small. All three have been sidelined with injury in recent weeks.
"They are putting their hands up which is great to see but so are the other members of the squad" says Gavin.
"The strength is the sum of its parts and rest assured whatever 26 players that we select will represent Dublin will do so with vigour, enthusiasm and determination."
