Tiger Woods has insisted that "alcohol was not involved", after he was charged with driving under the influence in Florida.
The 41-year-old was arrested on Monday morning in the US.
However, he says his arrest was because of an "unexpected reaction to prescribed medication".
Police released a mugshot of the unshaven 14-time major winner after the arrest.
"I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved.
“What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.”
"I didn't realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly."
Woods has also apologised for his actions.
"I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions", he added.
"I would like to apologise with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans.
“I expect more from myself too."
Woods is currently out of action, as he recovers from a fourth operation on his back.
