Borussia Dortmund were forced to postpone tonight's Champions League quarter-final clash with Monaco after the team bus was hit by an explosion.
Local police confirmed there were three explosions near the vehicle at the team hotel while the club was quick to allay the fears of fans already at the Westfalenstadion for the clash with Monaco.
"Bomb explosion on the team bus at the team hotel", read a tweet from the official club account.
"Player in security. No danger in the and at the stadium. More information to follow."
The player in question is defender Marc Bartra who had to be taken to hospital but his injuries are said to be superficial.
"There has been an attack with explosives on the team bus," confirmed Dortmund's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.
"The whole team is in a state of shock - you can't get pictures like that out of your head."
The first leg of their quarter-final at home against Monaco will now be played tomorrow at 5:45 Irish time.
