Manchester United's progression to the last-16 of the Europa League has come at a cost with the possible loss of two star midfielders ahead of the EFL Cup final.
The Red Devils beat St Etienne 1-0 on the night in France, 4-0 on aggregate, thanks to a strike from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
But the Armenia international went off with an injured hamstring eight minutes after his 17th minute strike, to be replaced by Marcus Rashford.
He was followed to the treatment table by Michael Carrick who went off in the 62nd minute with a calf problem.
Manager Jose Mourinho didn't sound too hopeful that the midfield duo will make Sunday's League Cup decider against Southampton.
"I think him [Mkhitaryan] and Michael, I think they are both out but this is based on my experience, not based on my medical knowledge. I think out."
Mkhitaryan would be a big loss as United attempt to claim the first piece of silverware of the season, having scored three goals now in six games.
United finished tonight's win with just ten men after defender Eric Bailly was sent off for a second booking in the 63rd minute.
