Ross Barkley's representatives have confirmed that the Everton star was punched in the face in a nightclub last night.
CCTV footage of the attack was released on social media earlier today, showing Barkley chatting to another man, before suddenly being attacked.
Barkley's lawyers have released a statement confirming the attack.
"Ross was the victim of an unprovoked attack by a stranger who approached him on Sunday evening," said Himsworths Legal.
The England midfielder was not seriously injured in the incident.
The footage was reportedly recorded in the early hours of this morning at a bar in Liverpool, where the 23 year old was enjoying a night out, after the Toffees’ 4-2 Premier League win over Leicester City yesterday.
Police are set to look into the CCTV footage.
