Leinster legend Shane Byrne feels the Blues are in “rude health”, after news broke this week that their coaching staff are set to stay on for two more years.
There had been speculation over the future of Leo Cullen and Stuart Lancaster in particular.
However they- along with Girvan Dempsey and John Fogarty- have all reportedly reached agreement on new deals to stay at the RDS until 2019.
The news came in the same week that Leinster reached the Champions Cup semi final, with an impressive victory over Wasps.
In contrasting news, Munster Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus is still being linked with a return to South Africa, while Donncha Ryan is also set to leave the province this summer and move to France.
Byrne feels Leinster’s ability to keep hold of their coaching ticket is a huge boost to the province:
Byrne was chatting to 98FM’s Jamie Moore on Now That’s What I Call Sport on Sunday, where he also spoke of his belief that Leinster are in a good position to go all the way to the Champions Cup final.
